Experience Design

Aligning of tech and humans

Design isn’t here to just make things look pretty*. Our primary focus is on crafting experiences that solve real issues.

It’s our job to balance user needs with business requirements, and beat any challenges therein with the available resources.

* don’t worry though – because we will!

Learn

Solving any challenge requires knowledge about your surroundings. Our primary tools as such, are research based. Workshops, user research, interviews, eye-tracking, whatever it takes. Without knowledge, you’re slapping lipstick on a pig.

Refine

Every bit of learning produces an outcome. Whether this is a series of personas, user journeys, wireframes, prototypes or designs. Something comes out, from which we can then draw more learnings

Repeat

Thanks to father time, the quest for knowledge is never-ending. Throughout projects, new learning will take place. We’ll adjust, produce new assets, and repeat the cycle until we’re satisfied with the conclusion!

Meet the crew!

You can’t talk about a community without talking about the people that make it. We’re a passionate bunch, each with our own specialities, and we love to talk design!

Feel free to reach out to any of us if you run into us at conventions, on social media, or anywhere really!

YOU!?
Whatever role you like?

Experience design capabilities

This list is not exhaustive. As with anyone in this industry, we constantly add to our toolbox, and constantly employ new methods when projects require them.

Additionally, there is no such thing as one-size-fits all.

We love to stay nimble, adapting to what should and could be achieved. That’s why the state of the project and the resources available to the team dictate how we proceed.

Discover

Every adventure starts with the first step. Our projects usually start with:

  • Discovery workshops(personas, user journeys, success measures, etc)
  • User interviews
  • Stakeholder 1on1s
  • Market research / competitor analysis
  • UX audit
  • Accessibility review (WCAG)

Build

Turning learnings into digital artefacts, incrementally building solutions.

  • User flows
  • Empathy maps
  • Content hierarchy
  • Wireframes
  • Prototypeing (paper prototype, wireframed, interactive, high-def, etc)
  • High def designs
  • Brand/style guides
  • Design systems

Test

As mentioned before, learning never stops. If there’s artefacts, we’ll test.

  • Stakeholder showcase
  • User testing (remote, in-person, guerilla, un/moderated, etc)
  • User interviews
  • Stakeholder surveys
  • Analytics analysis
  • Prioritisation workshops
  • Eyetracking analysis
  • Session analysis

Tools

As data engineering wizards, we never settle for less than the industry’s finest for every use case we encounter.

Tools of the trade

Let’s be fair here – we use whatever tools are available. As a digital agency, we constantly find ourselves in different environments. Different resources, different methodologies. And that’s perfectly fine.

… having said that, we do love Figmas, Slack, and whatever the latest wire-framing tool is. We do however use what’s best in the situation we find ourselves in. If that means Microsoft Teams and Photoshop, so be it!
